Ways to Unwind After A Stressful Day

I try my best to stay calm and light, but sometimes it's hard and the stress of a work day or something that may be going on gets the best of me! It doesn't help that I work a later shift at my job, which makes it harder for me to come home and take time for myself because all I can think about is sleeping. With that being said, I recently noticed my stress levels getting higher and higher each day, so I made some helpful adjustments to how I go about my week, which I share in this post.

Writing in my journal
I've written about this before, but writing in my journal is an extremely important part of how I prioritize my self-care. I noticed that the more stressed I felt, the less I took the time to write, which should be the complete opposite. Why wouldn't I get all my thoughts out if I was feeling so overwhelmed, right? Once I realized that, even if it doesn't happen everyday, I make sure to write in my journal as much as possible. It really helps me get some of the load off my shoulders and could help you as well.
Adjusting to starting my work day later than a typical 9-to-5 took some time to get used to, but now that I've got it figured out I make the time to exercise in the morning. I'm not someone who normally works out in the morning, but sometimes you've got to do what works best. In this case, there's no way I was going to come home at night and work out. Exercising allows me to start my day with a clear head and on a positive note- two things that are amazing for helping me feel less stressed.
Using a face mask or scrub is genuinely relaxing to me, so if it doesn't do that for you, skip it! After a long day, it feels nice to clear my skin and get rid of any extra dirt that may be in my pores. Whether I close my eyes for a couple minutes or watch television while it's on my face, I find it to be really soothing. Take a break
Taking ten minutes to go for a walk can give you the right amount of time you need for yourself. Especially when the weather's warmer, take advantage of it and breathe in some fresh air. A break can come in many different forms if you're not in the mood for a walk. Meditation can help you destress and look at things with a different perspective.
