5 Questions People Ask Twins
So, if you haven’t noticed by now, Carine and I are twins. The way we meet people when we aren’t together and when we are together are two completely different experiences, so I wanted to take the time to highlight the 5 questions we get asked the most often.
1. Are you identical or fraternal?
This question, along with “how many minutes apart are you” (13!) is one of the first questions we get. Whenever we tell people that we’re fraternal they either take it for what it is or argue in disbelief because we look so much alike!
2. Do you like being a twin?/ What’s it like to be a twin?
YES! We don’t know what it’s like to not be a twin though, so we don’t really have anything to compare it to.
3. Comparisons for… EVERYTHING
Who’s smarter? Who’s quieter? And I’m not kidding, EVERYTHING else you can think of.
I don’t really know why people like to compare twins so much, but it happens all the time. It’s almost like twins can’t both be something. People sometimes laugh when we answer with “We’re both smart.”
4. Do you have twin telepathy?
The short answer is no, but if you hang out with your best friend and feel like you know everything about them, wouldn’t you in some ways be able to read their mind? You don’t have to be a twin to have “twin telepathy.”
We can’t go anywhere together without being stared at. It’s like all of a sudden, social etiquette goes out the window. We’ve gotten used to it now, but it can get annoying when someone is staring at us minute after minute.
