What We're Reading: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

I love getting lost in a good book! In my recent efforts to read more fiction novels, I wanted to go with a book that had a lot of heart and would have me thinking about it once I finished reading it. After a little bit of searching, I finally settled on “Everything, Everything” by Nicola Yoon.

To say I liked it would be an understatement. I read it in one day and I feel like I could read it again! It’s been a while since I read a book that I just got completely lost in and this one was seriously everything, everything.

The novel tells the story of  18-year-old Madeline who has Severe Combine Immune Deficiency, or SCID, which, in the book, prevents her from going outside. A new family moves in next door, and she is able to spark a friendship with Olly. After a series of communicating through miming and instant messaging, the story takes you on a journey of love, loss and living life. And of course, there's a twist!

As I said earlier, it’s been some time since I’ve read a book like “Everything, Everything” because I was really wrapped up in my last semester of college. This book was the perfect way for me to get back into my reading flow! I highly recommend reading it if you haven’t yet.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but now that I’ve read the book, I’m anxious the see it now! It stars Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson as Madeline and Olly.

Have you read the book or seen the movie? Let me know what you thought of it!
